New Delhi. A team of five naval personnel from Southern Naval Command (SNC) visited the Janaseva Shishubhavan, Aluva on 01 Nov 17 and presented the inmates with gifts and other essentials to mark the culmination of the ‘Festival of Giving’ – ‘Daan Utsav’, which was undertaken by Signal School of SNC since 02 Oct 17 (Gandhi Jayanthi) in their precincts.
As part of the ‘Joy of Giving’, a ‘Wish Tree’ was placed at Signal School on 02 Oct with the objective of fulfilling the wishes, needs and desires of the children of Janaseva Shisubhavan, Aluva and similar orphanages. The Wish Tree had wish cards with a variety of wishes from the children displayed such as books, stationery, bed sheets, toiletries etc. Personnel from all over the SNC responded to the initiative with generosity and enthusiasm and many articles were contributed.
The initiative to act as a bridge between the needs/ wishes of under-privileged children and the individuals willing to fulfill those needs, has been widely supported by the naval fraternity at Kochi. This is also an extension of the various community outreach activities undertaken by SNC throughout the year reinforcing the inherent goodness of human beings in general and that of uniformed personnel in particular.
