Dassault Expects to Boost Business in Asia with Falcon Jets

Jimmy Bhatia Published: February 2018

Falcon 8X makes first appearance at Singapore Airshow 2018

Singapore. With the large cabin business jet market showing a global recovery, Dassault is hopeful the Asian market will also experience improved sales with the Region’s economies showing remarkable resilience and steady growth. Dassault had a compelling presence at the recently concluded Singapore Airshow fielding its two most acclaimed Falcon business jets, the 8X and the 2000LX Smodels.

According to Mr Jean-Michel Jacob who oversees all promotional activity for the Falcon range of business jets in Asia-Pacific, while operating out of Hong Kong, Dassault is experiencing good growth in the region in terms of sales as the demand for large business jets is on the rise. “While North America and Europe continue to be much larger markets for business jets than Asia-Pacific, I think in 2018 Asia-Pacific’s contribution towards Dassault Falcons’ global sales will increase further.”

“We see the governments in Southeast Asia generally have become favourably disposed towards business aviation in recent years. Countries in Southeast Asia have opened up to business aviation as their governments have understood that business aviation is an important segment of the aviation industry and one that facilitates trade, investment and business opportunities.”

The business jet activities in the region are mostly linked to Chinese companies expanding their businesses in Southeast Asia in conformity with the Beijing’s OBOR initiative. Likewise, companies in Southeast Asia – such as those in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia – are expanding into China and seeking business opportunities there.

Another big factor which is likely to emerge as a great catalyst to increasing business jets sale is the growing clout of the Indian economy and the country’s ‘Look East- Act East’ policies. Much greater attention is being placed on increasing the existing India-ASEAN trade by as much as a magnitude of three in the coming decade. This would entail a lot of business travel with Corporate houses and HNWIs (High Net-Worth Individuals) investing in business jets.

Dassault’s Falcon family of business jets have continued to provide bench marks to the global business aviation community – both manufacturers and consumers – with defining designs combining luxury with efficiency and of course reach. For example Dassault Falcon 8x boasts of Mach 0.8 Cruising speed and 41,000 ft cruise height and has an extraordinary range 6,450 nm (7,425 miles or 11,945 km) with 8 passengers and a crew of 3. Dassault offers 30 different types of customisable floor plans to suit individual tastes and requirements. In amazing city pairings, Falcon 8x can fly non-stop from Beijing to Los Angeles, Hong Kong to London, Paris to Singapore, Lagos to Chicago, Mumbai to Sydney, and Moscow to Los Angeles, etc.

For slightly shorter destinations, Dassault had the glistening Falcon 2000LXS on the tarmac. The Falcon 2000LXS is a widebody aircraft offering 4,000 nm (7,410 km) range, unrivaled efficiency, and the ability to access short and challenging runways other jets run away from. Designed to please even the most demanding of world travelers, it also offers exceptional mission flexibility, allowing one to hop between cities, cross continents, span oceans – and optimise one’s own capability to achieve more.
