Vice Admiral R K Dhowan takes over as Vice Chief of Naval Staff

New Delhi. Vice Admiral RK Dhowan, AVSM, YSM assumed charge as Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) at the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy).

 

Vice Admiral Dhowan has held various key command and staff appointments during his illustrious career. The Admiral’s operational command appointments have included missile corvette INS Khukri, guided missile destroyers INS Ranjit and INS Delhi and the Eastern Fleet as Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF).

The Admiral’s staff assignments have included prestigious appointments like the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at the Headquarters at New Delhi, Commandant of ‘National DD Defence Academy’ Khadakvasla, Indian Naval Adviser at the High Commission of India, London and CC Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at Headquarters Western Naval Command (Mumbai).

A Navigation and Direction Specialist, Vice Admiral Robin Dhowan is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy,the ND Defence Services Staff College and Naval War College, Rhode Island, USA. The Admiral had also excelled during his initial training winning the coveted ‘telescope’ as the Best Cadet and later the ‘Sword of Honour’ during his Midshipman training.
