New Delhi. Securing India’s critical national infrastructure, borders, airports, commercial ports and communication centres to some of the largest oil and gas installations and pipelines that run across some of the most inhospitable terrain in the world, has become a priority for today’s India.

 

Post 26/11 tackling the security lapses not only in defence related aspects but in home and civilian regions as well, has become a matter of grave importance for the nation as a whole. With the constantly growing threat of terrorism gaining new levels, it has become very important to put into place mechanisms involving technology, human & intelligence based applications that will provide all round sense of protection and security said D R Karthikeyan, Chairman, ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Installations, Premises & Personnel Security.

Homeland Security India, collocated with IFSEC India, brought together the leading Indian and international solution providers with the key decision makers and influencers The event enabled professionals from the Indian Government and private Industries, to identify and procure the latest innovations and technology to meet their security needs.

The Union Home Mini ster P Chidambaram inaugurated International Fire and Security Exhibition (IFSEC) and Homeland Security India 2011. Identification products and solutions tailored for governments, national agencies and administrations dedicated to law enforcement, civil identity management, border control and road safety, were majorly displayed at the exhibition.

Airports which probably are the most secured communication infrastructure in the world need precise control and management of valuable assets. Indian airports require perfect key management, fleet management, tool management, radio management and asset management.

Tailor-made solutions were made available by both national and international industrial players during the three days of Homeland Security India. Integrated Airport Traffic Management and airport systems built to suit all environments, from regional to international airports, were projected by SAAB, the Swedish defence and security major. It builds remote towers, integrated towers, mobile towers , advanced surface movement, guidance &control system and electronic flight progress system for ATM.

Nigel Luke Brown, Director Exhibition said, “This year again as always we have got very positive responses from the industry and I am very excited with the way the industry is reacting towards the event. Even with choices available to exhibitors, they still consider IFSEC as the safest marketing tool and invest most of their budget with us.”

The US dominates the Homeland Security Market, and is among only a handful of countries to have a dedicated Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Other major markets include Saudi Arabia, India and China, all of which are set to experience strong growth in the coming decades as they grapple with a variety of internal and external threats to stability. A variety of scanning, detection and protection capabilities are being deployed and refined in this growing market. Moreover, the scope for integration of current protective measures is considerable. A host of new technologies and inventive applications of current equipment is required to secure states from threats to their populations, assets and infrastructures. From Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to biometric e-passports; from underwater sonar equipment to advanced imaging technology, the market for Homeland Security is large and varied.

Ericcson has a bouquet of ICT capabilities in defence and homeland security. Remote alarm and sensor management, secure communication, IPFT and video conferencing, civil warning and information services, mobile CCTV And remote monitoring, and many other solutions are in the market for India’s needs.

Amongst the prominent industry names in the business of safety and security the following were present at the exhibition, ADI, Aditya, ANG India, Arise, Axis, BGI, BOSCH, DVTel, Everfocus, FAAC, Godrej, Gunnebo, HID, HIKVISION, Honeywell Security, Indigo Vision, Kores, Kufra, LG, Matrix, Miscrosoft, Morpho, NEC, Neural, SAAB , Panasonic, Samriddhi Automation (SPARSH), Turbo, Tyco, Vectra, Verint.

Pavilions of UK, USA, China, Taiwan, France, Sweden and Australia not only showcased homeland security capabilities but also managed to tap the most lucrative and ever growing Indian market for these solutions . This event was aimed to bring together under one roof the security experts from various industries including financial services, Infrastructure, public safety, law enforcement retail, realty and hospitality – all searching for the latest products and services in the security market.
