An electronics warfare specialist, Mr Lenseigne
assumed his new position recently.
He told India
Strategic in an informal chat that
the company has a major stake in India, thanks
to the modernization of the Indian Air Force (IAF)
Mirage 2000 fleet, as also the significant share
in electronics in the Scorpene submarines that
India is building in collaboration with French
DCNS.
Notably, the French Rafale is in competition
with the European consortium’s Eurofighter, the
result of which is likely to be announced any
time. In the Rafale also, Thales has a big share
in electronics and radars, and if the decision
comes in favour of Rafale, then the company would
be engaged in constructive cooperation with the
Indian industry for a very long time.
Thales is $16.5-billion giant, operational in
the defence, security, aerospace and transport
markets.
Mr Lenseigne holds a master's degrees in electronics
and signal processing as well as business administration.
He has 23 years' experience in international business
and market development in Europe, Russia, Middle
East and Asia.
Thales India that has more than 300 people working
out of its facilities in the national capital,
Mumbai, Kochi, Gwalior, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam,
Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow.
With over six decades of operations in India,
covering both military and civilian space, Thales
also has joint venture agreements with India’s
Samtel and Rolta. Besides, it also has a technology
company in Chennai to develop software for its
global customer base.
Globally, Thales has 68,000 employees in 50 countries,
of which 22,500 are engineers and researchers.
