New Delhi. Gen Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, Chief of General Staff of the Afghan National Army, paid a four-day visit to India in July.

He discussed cooperative relations and friendly ties with the Indian Army discuWednesday led a military delegation to the National Defence Academy (NDA) here that is training 32 Afghanis.

The seven-member team was briefed about the academy ’s training curriculum and given a guided tour of the NDA campus and its facilities by Commandant and Vice-Admiral R K Dhowan, a spokesman said.

At the indoor shooting range there, Gen Mohammadi tried his hand at firing and proved he was an ace marksman.

He said the standard of training imparted at NDA to the cadets, including 32 Afghanis, “would certainly meet the current demand of professional excellence required by the Afghanistan military leadership in the ongoing nation building process”.

Gen Mohammadi expressed the hope that this would help increase the confidence among the military leadership of India and Afghanistan and pave the way for furthering military ties between the two countries.
