New Delhi. Mr Nitin Luthra, a promising young journalist, passed away early Monday, 21 September 2009 morning, of a sudden heart attack. He was only 32.

Nitin, as he was popularly known among the media fraternity, was a mature writer on defence affairs. He began his career by joining Reuters in 2000 and in 2007, shifted to Dow Jones Newswires. Just a couple of months ago, he had decided to move to India Strategic to strengthen its management and editorial team.

Nitin was known to be a workaholic, and was addicted to working on computers even at odd hours. In his last moments, he was working on his laptop when he suddenly collapsed.

Unfortunately, while he lived in a posh neighbourhood, the nearest hospital said it had no ambulance and it took time to get ambulance from another hospital in a different locality.

Nitin had also produced TV documentaries on various subjects, his first association being in 1995 with film production in Dubai.

He is survived by his wife and a four-year-old son. He was the son of Gulshan Luthra, a noted writer on strategic affairs and Rashmi Luthra, film maker.

Born 30 January 1977, Nitin had his education in Dubai Gem and Modern School in Dubai, Mayo College-Ajmer, DPS School-RK Puram, New Delhi and KM College, New Delhi.

Nitin was passionate about military aviation and motor sports.

As a member of the Rotary international movement, Nitin helped organise blood donation, anti-polio and anti-cancer campaigns around New Delhi.

Prayers have been held for Nitin by his friends across the world in temples, gurdwaras, churches and mosques.

In New Delhi, the Prayer for him was held on Tuesday 29 September 2009 and was attended by a large number of his friends and colleagues besides family members.
