Bangalore, October 12. The upcoming Wings India 2024, a premier event in the Asian Civil Aviation domain being jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Govt. of India, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Federation of Indian Chambers of  Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Civil Aviation (Commercial Aviation, General,Business Aviation) and Aerospace.

This event is scheduled from 18th – 21st January 2024, at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad and aims to not only project the Indian growth story but also become a platform for all stakeholders to come together for the advancement of the industry.

Karnataka has a preeminent role from the aviation perspective. With a robust Civil Aviation Policy, a plan for establishing airports, a focus on improvising civil aviation infrastructure and strides made by the state in drone technology, the State has the potential to become a major aviation manufacturing centre.

Bengaluru is already an important aviation centre in India with a sizable presence of the aviation industry such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Airbus, Boeing and others leading companies.

To promote the upcoming event, a Roadshow was organised in Bengaluru on 12th October 2023. The objective of this roadshow was not only to promote the event but also to have discussions with the key stakeholders based in Karnataka. The event format included interactive Session followed by open house discussion.

At the outset, Mr Remi Maillard, Chairman – FICCI Civil Aviation Committee President; MD AIRBUS, India and South Asia welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries with a Green Certificate.

Vumlunmang Vualnam Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation Government of India said, “India civil aviation industry is a source of national pride, connecting people across the nation and the world.

It plays a pivotal role in unlocking India’s economic potential, attracting global businesses and tourists alike.

With a burgeoning economy, rising incomes, supportive policies and fierce competition amongst airlines, the growth trajectory of this sector remains promising. The rapid expansion of India’s airport and air navigation infrastructure further propels its ascent. Indeed, as India approaches its centenary, it is emerging as a new global power, marked by a paradigm shift and a dedicated focus on infrastructure development.

This development extends to all corners of the nation, ensuring equitable growth for all.

Vumlunmang Vualnam said, “The recent historic purchase order of 470 aircraft by Air India and 500 aircraft by IndiGo airlines has positioned India as an important market in the global civil aviation ecosystem, making it an attractive investment destination worldwide.”

The Secretary said “Wings India, 2024 stands as Asia’s premier event in the realm of Civil Aviation and it offers a unique platform that resonates with the rapidly evolving dynamics of the sector.

This gathering is not just about business acquisitions, investments or policy formulation; it is about fostering regional and global connectivity; and forging partnerships that transcend boundaries.

“As we often say in aviation, that sky is the limit and indeed, the possibilities before us in aviation are boundless, the Secretary said.”

The Roadshow in Bengaluru also had the august presence of Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, Asangba Chuba Ao, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, Mr Remi Maillard, Chairman – FICCI Civil Aviation Committee and President & MD, Airbus – South Asia and India, Dr C M Anand, Program Director for Civil Aircrafts, Head, Aerospace Electronics and Systems Division Chief Scientist, CSIR – National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL), Dr. D K Sunil, Director Engineering and R &D, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Hari Marar, Managing Director & CEO, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL).

The roadshow ceremony of Wings India 2024 concluded with an interesting round of an open house session.
