Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls for global resolve and unity against terror funding, at the BRICS Summit

Kazan, Russia, October 23. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India supports dialogue and diplomacy, not war and called for global resolve and unity against terror funding and violence.

During the closed door plenary session of the BRICS Summit themed “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security”, PM Modi said “ We Support Dialogue and diplomacy, not war. Just as we collectively overcame challenges like covid, we are fully capable of creating new opportunities for a safe, empowered and prosperous future, for the next generation,” PM Modi added.

“Our Meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by many challenges like wars, conflicts, economic uncertainity, climate change and terrorism. There is a talk of North-South, East-West divide in the world”.

“In the age of technology, new challenges like cyber-security, deepfake and disinformation have emerged. In such a situation, there are many expectations from the BRICS. I believe that as a diverse and inclusive platform, BRICS can play a positive role on all issue,” PM Modi said.

“In this context, our approach should remain people centric. We should give the message to the world that BRICS is not a divisive but a public interest group,” the PM stated.

“We all have to be united and Cooperate strongly to deal with terrorism and terror financing. There is no place for double standards on such a serious issue. We should take active step to prevent radicalisation among the youth, and have to work together on the pending issue of the comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, in the United Nations,” PM Modi stated.

“BRICS is an Organisation which is willing to evolve with time. By giving our own example to the world we must collectively and in an united manner raise our voice for reforms of global institutions like the UN Security Council, Multilateral Development Banks and the WTO,” the Prime Minister urged.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the BRICS grouping  created by the confluence of different viewpoints and ideologies is a source of inspiration for the world,, fostering positive Cooperation.

Our diversity, respect for each other and our tradition of moving forward on the basis of consensus are the basis of our Cooperation. This quality and the BRICS spirit are attracting other countries to the forum, the Prime Minister stated and added that in the days to come, the member countries would make this a unique platform, a model for dialogue, Cooperation and Coordination.

In this regard, as a founding member of BRICS, India will always continue to fulfil its responsibilities, PM Modi stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for wonderfully organising, the BRICS Summit.
