Collaboration to Promote Technological Innovation, Quality Assurance, and Skill Development
Bengaluru, November 30. A significant collaboration aimed at advancing India’s Defence manufacturing capabilities was formalized today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Defence Institute of Quality Assurance (DIQA), a premier training institute of DGQA organization and CII-IQ during the 32nd CII Excellence Summit held at the Taj Airport, Bengaluru.
The MoU, signed by Maj Gen O P Singh, Director, DIQA on behalf of DGQA and Mr. Vipin Sahni, Executive Director, CII-IQ in the presence of Mr. N. Manoharan, Director General, Mr. RA Govardhan, ADGQA, Dr Krishna Murthy, Addl. Director, DIQA and Dr Aparna Dhawan, Sr Counselor, CII-IQ.
This MoU aims to strengthen quality assurance processes, foster technological innovation, and enhance skill development in the Defence manufacturing sector. The partnership will focus on several key initiatives, including:
- Certification Programs: Enhancing skills in quality assurance, reliability engineering, and the application of emerging technologies in Defence systems.
- Workshops and Seminars: Organizing events to discuss the latest technological trends and their applications in Defence manufacturing.
- Joint Research and Development: Collaborating on the development of innovative manufacturing technologies tailored to the unique needs of the Defence sector.
- Capacity Building: Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and private manufacturers in contributing effectively to India’s Defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Mr. N. Manoharan highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating, “This MoU is a key step towards building a self-reliant Defence sector. By combining the strengths of DGQA and CII-IQ, we aim to enhance the technological capabilities of India’s Defence industry while ensuring the highest quality standards.”
Mr. Soumitra Bhattacharya, Chairman of CII Institute of Quality & CEO and Director of IFQM Q, expressed optimism about the collaboration, saying, “The partnership between DIQA (DGQA) and CII-IQ will bridge the gap between emerging technologies and Defence sector requirements, further strengthening India’s global competitiveness in Defence manufacturing.”
The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between DGQA and CII-IQ, which is expected to contribute significantly to India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission, promoting a self-reliant and future-ready Defence sector.
