Group Centre CRPF, Yelahanka organized the Millets and Organics Mela 2025
Bengaluru, March 11. The Group Centre CRPF, Yelehanka, Bengaluru organized a two days millet Mela “The Millets and Organics Mela 2025” from March 9 to 10, 2025, in coordination with Department of Agriculture, Karnataka Government.
As a follow-up to United Nations declaration of “International year of millets -2023”, Government of India had issued directions for CAPFs to introduce 30% food menus to include millets in all the messes. This two-day event at Yelahanka aimed to promote millet-based products and organic food.
A total of 47 stalls were set up in the Mela, offering a delightful array of millet-based food items, organic products, and instant foods. The lively food court added to the vibrant atmosphere, making it an engaging experience for all visitors. As part of the inauguration, key speakers, including Mr. T. Vikram, IPS, Karnataka & Kerala sector, CRPF; Mr. Dinesh Kumar Yadav, IPS , BSF; Maj. Gen. Devender Kumar, VSM, Officiating DG-RVS; Dr. Baldev Singh Gulati Director NIVEDI ; Mr. Padma Kumar DIG , CRPF; Shri T . Viswanath, Commandant ; Smt. Roopa, Assistant Horticulture Director – Agriculture and Shri. Raju, Asst. Director, Dept of Agriculture shared their expertise and experience.
The inaugural function emphasized upon the numerous nutritional benefits of millets, their role in sustainable agriculture, and the government’s initiatives to promote millet cultivation and consumption. Experts also discussed innovations in millet-based products and their potential to enhance food security and public health. Later, all distinguished guests visited the various stalls set up at the Mela, interacting with exhibitors and gaining insights into the diverse range of millet-based and organic products on display.
As part of the Mela, a Cultural Evening was also organized, featuring vibrant performances that showcased India’s rich heritage. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from jawans and their families, along with visitors from various government departments, security forces, and organizations.
