Colonel Jangvir Lamba Defies Limits at Ironman Triathlon 140.6, Penghu (Taiwan): Champion’s Grit

Col Jangvir Lamba: A Saga of Grit, Power, and Unbreakable Resolve

Bengaluru, April 25. In a stunning demonstration of sheer willpower, relentless endurance, and iron-willed determination, Colonel Jangvir Lamba of the Indian Army has once again shattered limits and defied expectations. On April 13, 2025, Col Lamba conquered the grueling IRONMAN 140.6 Triathlon in Penghu, Taiwan, cementing his place among the world’s elite endurance athletes.

Regarded as one of the most punishing endurance races on the planet, the IRONMAN 140.6 demands:

  • 8 km of open-water swimming
  • 180 km of relentless cycling
  • 2 km of marathon running — all in one day, without a break

At 53.5 years of age, competing in the fiercely contested 50–54 age category, Col Lamba braved extreme conditions and unrelenting terrain to finish the race in a commanding 14 hours, 53 minutes, and 34 seconds. His accomplishment stands as a bold proclamation that age is no constraint — when the mind is resolute, and the spirit is forged in fire.

A fourth-generation officer in the Indian Army, Col Lamba hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and currently serves at the ASC Centre (South), Bengaluru. A warrior in uniform and in life, his journey from the world of professional bodybuilding to mastering the toughest endurance races on Earth is nothing short of extraordinary.

His endurance resume reads like a catalogue of human limits redefined:

  • IRONMAN 70.3 Goa – November 2022
  • Asia-Pacific IRONMAN Championship, Cairns, Australia – June 2023
  • IRONMAN 140.6 Langkawi, Malaysia – October 2023
  • Marathon des Sables, Morocco – April 2024: A 253.5 km multi-stage ultra marathon through the searing Sahara Desert — often called the world’s most brutal footrace

A former professional bodybuilder and National-Level Bodybuilding Judge with the Indian Body Builders Federation, Col Lamba has undergone a profound metamorphosis — from sculpting physical form to conquering endurance extremes few dare to attempt.

His life is not just a journey; it is a battle cry for every individual chasing greatness. Col Jangvir Lamba is living proof that discipline can outlast pain, resilience can overcome fear, and purpose can break every boundary. His story is not just one of victory — it is a legacy of inspiration.
