Western Naval Command Commemorates 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY 25)
Mumbai. The Western Naval Command (WNC) headquartered in Mumbai, commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY-25) on June 21, 2025 in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) promulgated by Ministry of Ayush. Over 7000 naval personnel, defence civilians and families enthusiastically participated in yoga camps organised at various locations across Mumbai, Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka. Yoga sessions were also conducted onboard naval ships and submarines at high seas and during port call in friendly foreign countries, reflecting the global reach and unity of the event under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Prominent yoga institutes such as Art of Living, Bharat Swabhiman (Nyas) and Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti conducted yoga workshops for the naval personnel and their families at various locations in South Mumbai including Naval Dockyard and residential areas from June 11 – 20, 2025. A Yoga Maha Kumbh was conducted at Navy Nagar from June 18-21, 2025, which included therapy, consultation and outreach activities in coordination with renowned yoga organisations.
The Indian Navy has consistently promoted physical fitness, adventure and holistic well-being among its personnel. Towards this, Yoga is an integral part of daily life onboard ships and at shore establishments. Regular coaching camps are also held in naval residential areas to encourage yoga practice among service members and their families.
