INS Trikand concludes Alexandria visit after participation in Bright Star 2025
New Delhi, September 14. Indian Naval Ship Trikand, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, wrapped up its port call at Alexandria, Egypt, on September 11 during its ongoing deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.
The ship represented India in Exercise Bright Star 2025, a biennial US Central Command-led multilateral exercise hosted by Egypt. Alongside the Indian Navy, contingents from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force also participated, highlighting India’s growing defence engagement in the region. The exercise, conducted across air, land, and sea domains, focused on strengthening regional security, enhancing interoperability, and countering hybrid warfare threats. Apart from the US, Egypt, and India, the drill saw the participation of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Greece, and Italy.
During its stay in Alexandria, INS Trikand engaged in a range of professional and cultural interactions, including discussions with senior military officials, cross-deck visits, and outreach activities designed to foster closer ties. Planning sessions for the sea phase of Bright Star were also carried out.
The sea phase featured complex operational manoeuvres, testing the combat readiness of participating navies in realistic maritime scenarios. INS Trikand was commended for its accurate gunnery and professional performance during the drills.
Following the successful completion of the exercise and port call, INS Trikand has now sailed onward to the next leg of its Mediterranean deployment. The upcoming engagements with regional partners are expected to further strengthen operational synergy, promote exchange of best practices, and enhance cooperation against both conventional and non-traditional maritime challenges.
