India, France review defence, technology and security ties at 38th Strategic Dialogue ahead of Macron’s visit
New Delhi, January 13. India and France on January 13 held wide-ranging talks on defence, security, technology and global strategic issues as National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and French President Emmanuel Macron’s diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne co-chaired the 38th India–France Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi.
The two sides reaffirmed the strength of their long-standing strategic partnership and reviewed progress across key areas of cooperation, including defence, advanced technologies, space and civil nuclear energy. Officials also explored new opportunities for joint development and industrial collaboration, aligned with India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India) initiatives.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the dialogue also focused on the evolving geopolitical situation and a range of regional and international issues of shared concern. Both sides agreed on the need for closer coordination to respond to emerging global security challenges and to promote peace and stability.
A key part of the discussions was the review of preparations for French President Emmanuel Macron’s forthcoming visit to India, which is expected to give fresh momentum to the bilateral partnership.
During his visit, Emmanuel Bonne also held separate meetings with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the high-level political engagement between the two countries.
