Air India, Singapore Airlines sign framework pact to deepen partnership and boost India-Singapore connectivity

New Delhi, January 18. Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have signed a commercial cooperation framework agreement that sets the stage for a deeper strategic partnership, aimed at enhancing connectivity and offering greater choice and benefits to passengers travelling between India and Singapore.

The agreement was signed in Mumbai on January 16 by Air India Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Campbell Wilson and Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Goh Choon Phong. Subject to regulatory approvals and the conclusion of definitive joint business agreements, the partnership will allow the two carriers to expand and improve their product and service offerings.

Under the proposed collaboration, Air India and SIA plan to enable seamless travel with more route options, including the ability for passengers to book flights across both airlines as part of a single, unified journey. The airlines also intend to coordinate flight schedules more closely to improve convenience for travellers.

The framework envisages enhanced cooperation in corporate travel programmes, potentially expanding cross-participation to better serve business travellers. The airlines will also explore ways to extend privileges beyond existing Star Alliance benefits for members of Air India’s Maharaja Club and SIA’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer programmes.

Beyond the India-Singapore market, the two carriers will examine opportunities to broaden cooperation in select international markets, subject to regulatory clearance. This is expected to support growing demand for global connectivity, strengthen traffic flows through their respective hubs, and reinforce the aviation markets of both countries.

Air India and Singapore Airlines currently codeshare on 61 destinations across 20 countries and territories, following a major expansion of their codeshare partnership in October 2024 that added 51 international and domestic destinations to their combined networks.

Welcoming the agreement, Campbell Wilson said the framework reflects Air India’s strategy of expanding its global footprint through both fleet growth and stronger commercial partnerships, particularly with fellow Star Alliance members. Goh Choon Phong described the pact as a natural progression of a successful relationship, noting that it would strengthen air connectivity, support tourism growth, and deepen business and people-to-people ties between India and Singapore.
