Air India launches nationwide campaign to spotlight Premium Economy offering
New Delhi, February 12. Air India has rolled out a comprehensive 360-degree marketing campaign to promote its Premium Economy product, now available on 60 percent of its fleet, positioning the offering as a practical and meaningful upgrade for modern travellers.
Titled ‘The Premium You Deserve’, the campaign seeks to redefine the idea of an upgrade – not as a luxury indulgence, but as a well-earned comfort that prioritises space, care and convenience. In a press release, the airline says the initiative reflects evolving passenger expectations, particularly on domestic and short-haul international routes.
The campaign draws on findings from a recent customer survey, which indicates a clear shift in traveller preferences. According to the survey, 80 percent of respondents believe a comfortable journey is more important than ever, while 87 percent see paying for added comfort as a practical choice rather than an extravagance. Additionally, 93 percent said in-flight comfort significantly affects how they feel upon arrival, and 60 percent expressed willingness to pay extra for more comfort even on shorter flights.
Air India said the campaign aims to capture these insights by portraying Premium Economy as a deserved experience rather than a splurge. Through a calm and evocative narrative, it highlights features such as extra legroom, enhanced seat recline, priority check-in and upgraded meal options. The central message underscores personal space and care in the skies: “It’s your place in the sky. It is The Premium You Deserve.”
The campaign will run from February 11 to March 31, 2026, and will be promoted across print, television, outdoor advertising and digital platforms, including YouTube, OTT services, Meta, Uber and Spotify. It will also feature during the T20 World Cup broadcasts.
The marketing push comes amid Air India’s broader transformation programme. The airline recently completed retrofitting its legacy narrowbody aircraft with a three-class configuration – Business, Premium Economy and Economy – offering passengers greater choice across routes.
Retrofitting of the widebody fleet is now underway. The first upgraded legacy Boeing 787-8 aircraft is scheduled to rejoin service in March 2026, with all 26 aircraft of that type expected to be refurbished by mid-2027. The retrofit of Boeing 777 aircraft is slated to begin in 2027 and conclude in 2028.
In addition, Air India recently opened its first flagship ‘Maharaja Lounge’ at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, showcasing the airline’s revamped brand experience.
As the carrier continues its multi-year transformation, the Premium Economy campaign signals a broader brand repositioning – one that frames comfort not as overt luxury, but as a thoughtful, accessible and human-centric aspect of air travel.
