Sagar Defence Engineering to set up 400-acre defence manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, May 15. Sagar Defence Engineering has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish a large, state-of-the-art defence manufacturing complex in the state, marking a major step toward strengthening India’s indigenous defence production ecosystem.
The MoU was formalised at an official event attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The agreement involves the proposed allotment of nearly 400 acres of land for the upcoming facility, which will focus on advanced defence systems manufacturing aligned with national security priorities.
Capt Nikunj Parashar, Founder, Chairman & Managing Director of Sagar Defence Engineering, represented the company at the signing ceremony along with Saurabh Patil, Head of Research and Development.
The development comes soon after the company secured an industrial licence to manufacture explosives, a milestone that expands its footprint into full-spectrum defence manufacturing. The proposed unit is expected to play a key role in boosting domestic capabilities in critical defence technologies while contributing to the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) vision.
Beyond enhancing indigenous production, the project is projected to generate significant employment, strengthen regional industrial infrastructure, and position Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub for strategic defence manufacturing and innovation.
Calling the agreement a crucial milestone, Capt Parashar said the partnership would help build next-generation strategic capabilities while reinforcing India’s drive toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
