Quad foreign ministers to meet in New Delhi on May 26
New Delhi, May 22. Foreign ministers of the four Quad countries – India, United States, Australia and Japan – will gather in New Delhi on May 26 for the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting aimed at advancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
The meeting will be hosted by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Participating in the talks will be Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, all of whom will undertake official visits to India for the meeting.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on May 22, the ministers are expected to build upon discussions held during the previous Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Washington on July 1, 2025.
The deliberations will focus on strengthening cooperation under the Quad framework in line with the grouping’s shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific. The ministers will review progress made on ongoing Quad initiatives and exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual concern, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
During their stay in New Delhi, the Foreign Ministers of Australia and Japan, along with the US Secretary of State, are also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Jaishankar and call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Quad, comprising India, the United States, Japan and Australia, has increasingly expanded cooperation in areas such as maritime security, critical technologies, supply chains, infrastructure, health security and disaster response in recent years.
