PM Modi discusses maritime cooperation with CMA CGM Chairman Rodolphe Saadé
Paris, June 18. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of global shipping and logistics major CMA CGM, on expanding cooperation in India’s rapidly growing maritime sector.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions, held on June 18 on the margins of the VivaTech 2026 technology event here, focused on maritime connectivity, evolving global shipping trends and emerging opportunities in India’s maritime ecosystem.
The two sides explored possibilities for deeper collaboration in areas such as shipbuilding, container manufacturing, digital maritime innovation, logistics and skill development.
Highlighting India’s ongoing infrastructure push, Modi said the country’s expanding port network presents significant opportunities for leading global players in the maritime industry.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the interaction as fruitful and said the discussions covered a range of sectors aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation with the French shipping giant.
CMA CGM is one of the world’s largest container shipping and logistics companies and has been expanding its footprint in India amid the country’s growing focus on modernising ports and enhancing maritime connectivity.
