Air Marshal Tejinder Singh assumes charge as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff
New Delhi, July 1. Air Marshal Tejinder Singh on July 1 assumed charge as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), taking over one of the country’s key tri-services appointments responsible for promoting jointness and integration among the armed forces.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on June 13, 1987, Air Marshal Singh is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College and the National Defence College. A Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor, he has accumulated more than 4,500 flying hours during a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades.
The Air Marshal has held a range of operational and command appointments, including command of a fighter squadron, a radar station and a premier fighter base. He also served as the Air Officer Commanding, Jammu and Kashmir, overseeing air operations in one of the country’s most strategically significant regions.
Before taking over as CISC, Air Marshal Singh served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command. His extensive staff experience includes assignments at command headquarters and Air Headquarters, where he held positions such as Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-1), Air Commodore (Aerospace Safety), Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Offensive Operations and Strategy, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff.
He also served as Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning) at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Senior Air Staff Officer at Eastern Air Command and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command.
In recognition of his distinguished service, Air Marshal Singh has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022 and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2026.
Soon after assuming office, the Air Marshal laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and paid homage to personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. He was subsequently accorded a ceremonial tri-services guard of honour.
