CDS calls for greater military integration to prepare for future warfare
New Delhi, Aug 3. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani on August 3 underscored the need for the armed forces to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of warfare, stressing that emerging technologies and greater integration across stakeholders will be critical to strengthening India’s defence preparedness.
Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of the fourth edition of the Tri-Services Future Warfare Course at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, the CDS said the changing character of conflict requires the armed forces to anticipate future security challenges and develop the capability to respond effectively across multiple operational domains.
General Raja Subramani highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities, autonomous systems, information warfare, space technologies and data-driven decision-making in shaping the future battlefield. He said these technological advancements are transforming military operations and require a coordinated approach to national security.
Emphasising the importance of jointness and integration, the CDS called for closer collaboration among the armed forces, industry, academia and the research community to enhance India’s defence capabilities and prepare for future conflicts.
The four-week Tri-Services Future Warfare Course, organised by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), brings together officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force along with participants from government, industry, academia and strategic institutions.
The programme will examine a wide range of subjects, including geopolitics, emerging technologies, cognitive and cyber warfare, multi-domain operations, scenario-building and technology-enabled warfare, with the aim of equipping participants to address the challenges of an increasingly complex security environment.
