New Delhi, August 9. The Indian Navy and the US Navy will conduct a five-day bilateral Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) exercise at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi from August 10 to 14, aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening cooperation between their specialist diving and EOD teams.
The eighth edition of the specialised exercise will feature Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, cross-training sessions, equipment demonstrations and scenario-based practical drills, according to the Ministry of Defence.
The exercise will provide personnel from both navies an opportunity to exchange expertise on contemporary EOD techniques, emerging technologies and operational best practices. It will also enable the two sides to gain a better understanding of each other’s capabilities, operational concepts and approaches to employing specialist EOD teams.
The training is intended to promote collaborative learning and operational synergy while helping personnel refine procedures and improve their ability to deal with increasingly complex and evolving explosive ordnance disposal challenges.
The Indian Navy and US Navy have been conducting joint Salvage and EOD exercises since 2005. The latest engagement underscores the long-standing cooperation between the two navies in specialised maritime operations and their efforts to deepen operational coordination through regular training and exchange of expertise.
