ICG Commanders’ Conference to review maritime security, operational readiness
New Delhi, Sep 16. The 43rd Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Commanders’ Conference will be held at the Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi from September 17 to 19, with the force’s senior leadership set to deliberate on emerging maritime security challenges and measures to strengthen operational preparedness.
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will address the senior commanders on the opening day of the three-day conference. His interaction is expected to underline the government’s focus on strengthening the Coast Guard’s capabilities and enhancing its contribution to maritime security and the protection of India’s national interests.
The annual conference serves as the ICG’s apex professional forum, bringing together senior commanders from across the country to review strategic, operational and administrative priorities.
The deliberations will focus on a range of issues, including current and emerging maritime security challenges, operational readiness and deployment of resources, capability enhancement and force modernisation, and organisational priorities in line with the national maritime strategy.
The commanders will also review ongoing efforts to promote indigenisation under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and advance the objective of building self-reliance in the Coast Guard.
The conference comes amid growing emphasis on maritime security and the need to maintain a modern and responsive force capable of addressing evolving challenges in India’s maritime domain.
The three-day exercise is expected to provide a platform for the ICG’s senior leadership to assess existing capabilities, identify operational requirements and chart priorities for building a stronger and future-ready force dedicated to safeguarding India’s sovereign maritime interests.
