Rolls-Royce invests £300 million in UK manufacturing and engineering facilities to drive aerospace and defence growth and strengthen British industrial capability

UK, Sep 28, 2026. Rolls-Royce has announced a landmark £300 million investment in its manufacturing and engineering facilities across the UK. This significant investment reinforces the company’s commitment to the UK’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, laying the groundwork for further growth across its global Civil Aerospace and Defence businesses.

Rolls-Royce has invested more than £3 billion in the UK since the start of its transformation programme in 2023. Across the country, the company has been investing in R&D and cutting-edge engineering programmes, alongside upgrading its facilities and infrastructure.

This new investment will ensure Rolls-Royce’s UK infrastructure can meet manufacturing demand and support the development of future aerospace programmes. It further strengthens the UK’s industrial capacity in aerospace and supports vital sovereign defence capabilities.

In Derby, the home of Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace operations, the company is investing more than £140 million on new engineering and manufacturing services facilities to enable future growth and improve the work environment for employees. In addition, investments in aftermarket support will increase capacity and improve operational efficiency. The works are expected to be completed in 2028.

In Bristol, the home of UK military power and propulsion, Rolls-Royce is investing over £90 million on a major facility upgrade programme to enhance operational delivery, digital security and programme output for customers. It will support the more than 3,500 employees based at the site, including highly skilled engineers and will be completed in 2031. The investment will deliver new collaborative workspaces, enhanced IT infrastructure, and increase Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capability.

In addition, Rolls-Royce is strengthening its advanced manufacturing capabilities across other sites in the UK.

An investment of £43 million at Inchinnan, Glasgow, is introducing machinery that will enable new engine components to be manufactured. In Rotherham, Rolls-Royce is investing £19 million at its Advanced Blade Casting Facility. Supported by a further £2 million from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, the Rotherham programme will increase the facility’s capability and productivity, doubling its output of advanced turbine blades – a critical component in jet engines – by 2030. In Ansty, Warwickshire, a £5 million investment in machinery upgrades will enhance manufacturing capability and efficiency.

This investment programme demonstrates Rolls-Royce’s long-term commitment to the UK, providing multi-year stability to the hundreds of domestic engineering partners, component manufacturers, and small-to-medium enterprises that provide the company with the parts and services it needs to deliver for customers. In 2025 alone, Rolls-Royce spent more than £2.8 billion with UK-based suppliers, with the vast majority spent with businesses located outside of London and the South East.
