Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command calls on Governor of Maharashtra
Nagpur. Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, PhD, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Maintenance Command (MC), Indian Air Force, called on the Governor of Maharashtra, Mr. Jishnu Dev Varma, at Raj Bhavan on August 11, 2026.
During the interaction, the Air Marshal briefed the Hon’ble Governor on the pivotal role of Maintenance Command in sustaining the operational capability of the Indian Air Force through maintenance, repair, overhaul, logistics support and indigenisation initiatives. He also highlighted the Command’s significant contribution towards enhancing self-reliance in defence and ensuring sustained operational readiness of the Indian Air Force.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss IAF’s ongoing efforts in supporting the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Matters of mutual interest concerning civil-military cooperation and the contribution of IAF towards nation-building were also discussed. AOC-in-C, MC briefed the Governor on the conduct of Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon at Mumbai on October 4, 2026.
The Governor appreciated the exemplary professionalism, dedication and invaluable contribution of Maintenance Command personnel in ensuring the combat readiness of the Indian Air Force and conveyed his best wishes to all Air Warriors, civilian personnel and their families.
The courtesy call reaffirmed the strong bond between the Indian Air Force and the State of Maharashtra and underscored the shared commitment towards national security and public service.
