General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Names Alec Gordon Chief Operating Officer

SAN DIEGO. General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) announced on February 29 that, it has promoted Alec Gordon to the position of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GA-EMS. Mr. Gordon will have responsibilities to advance business opportunities and strengthen operational resources in support of GA-EMS’ extensive product and service portfolio.

“Alec has been in an interim COO role since May of 2023, and has demonstrated outstanding leadership and management capabilities to support the organization’s growth,” stated Scott Forney, President of GA-EMS. “We are very pleased to have him formally accept this position and look forward to his continued contributions as we build a more innovative, operationally efficient organization that is driven to expand our capabilities and product offerings to meet evolving customer and market demands.

Gordon joined GA-EMS in September 2017, and has held leadership roles as Director of Aftermarket Sales and Services and Managing Director of GA-EMS Product Lines. As COO, Gordon is responsible for operations supporting all programs and product lines, including the organization’s electromagnetic aircraft launch system and advanced arresting gear, advanced weapon systems, space systems, satellites and payloads, advanced sensors, laser systems, nuclear technologies and advanced materials, and high power and energy technologies.

Gordon holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and completed a Masters for Architecture-based Enterprise Systems Engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
