Indian Navy charts ‘Future Ready’ course at Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi
New Delhi, April 15. The Indian Navy began its Commanders’ Conference 01/2026 at Nau Sena Bhawan on April 14, with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi addressing senior leadership, operational and area commanders, and staff from Command and Naval Headquarters.
In his inaugural remarks, Admiral Tripathi praised the Navy’s performance in protecting India’s maritime interests, particularly in ensuring energy security amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia. He highlighted the increased operational tempo and deeper inter-service coordination, while stressing the need to maintain high combat readiness and adopt emerging technologies to shape a “Future Ready” force.
The naval chief reaffirmed the service’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond, in view of the evolving geostrategic environment. He underlined the importance of a cohesive and credible approach through proactive engagement with friendly foreign countries via bilateral and multilateral exercises.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence on April 15, the conference reviewed a wide range of operational priorities, including jointness with other services, capability enhancement both afloat and ashore, maintenance and refit cycles, multi-domain safety practices, training standards, international cooperation, human resource management, as well as innovation and indigenisation efforts.
Chief of the Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan also addressed the gathering, interacting with naval commanders on the shifting geopolitical landscape. He urged the Navy to prepare for the rapidly changing character of warfare, shaped increasingly by economic and technological factors.
