BIKAR Aerospace chooses Aequs’

Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC) to set up operations

  • The German supplier of Aerospace materials seeks to leverage the strategic location to service manufacturing units in India’s Aerospace triangle of Belagavi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

Bengaluru, June 21. BIKAR AEROSPACE GmbH has zeroed in on the Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC), operated by Aequs Infrastructure, to establish an advanced Aerospace Service Centre.

Aravind Melligeri, Chairman & CEO, Aequs and Alex Bikar, CEO of BIKAR Aerospace GmbH, signing the MoU at the Pari Air Show on June 20, 2023.

To further expand BIKAR’s market presence and strengthen its position as a premier international supplier of aerospace materials, the company has opted for a strategic presence at Aequs SEZ in Belagavi, North Karnataka. In future, BIKAR will provide storage and customized processing of semi-finished products made of aluminum, titanium, super alloys and other aerospace metals.

The family-owned company with over 800 employees uses its six decades of experience in the distribution of non-ferrous metals and expands its international presence in a focused approach to the needs of the aviation industry. For this, BIKAR follows a cutting-edge policy: The Germans are leaders in the automation and digitalization in the production of metal cuttings. The high-quality demands of aviation customers are met in state-of-the-art cutting centres where robots process the plates and automated guided vehicles work together. Intelligent production planning and control guarantees seamless tracking of all work pieces. BIKAR is also breaking new ground outside of production and offers advanced IT solutions with its own IT division. A constant live overview of all orders with a traffic light system is already standard, while customized solutions are possible at any time.

Aequs’ Belagavi Aerospace Cluster is the perfect location

BIKAR is now taking all these qualities to Belagavi. The ideally located site enables them to serve aerospace manufacturers in India’s aerospace triangle, which consists of Belagavi, Bangalore and Hyderabad, within short distances. While the BAC hosts over 30 manufacturing units at the campus, both Bangalore and Hyderabad are established Aerospace manufacturing hubs in India.

Alex Bikar, the CEO at BIKAR AEROSPACE GmbH, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the company’s expansion into India, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new branch in Belagavi. This move signifies our commitment to providing exceptional services to our clients while strengthening our position in the aerospace market. With the strategic location at AEQUS and the establishment of the Aerospace Service Centre in Belagavi, we are confident that BIKAR will continue to thrive and meet the evolving needs of the industry.”

Aravind Melligeri, Chairman & CEO, Aequs welcomed BIKAR Aerospace to BAC adding, “We are excited with the addition of BIKAR to the Aerospace Ecosystem at BAC, India’s first notified precision engineering and manufacturing SEZ. BAC hosts a vertically integrated manufacturing ecosystem with co-located capabilities that deliver an end-to-end manufacturing value stream. BIKAR’s choice of the BAC bears testimony to its success and utility to global Aerospace OEMs for quality services ranging from raw materials to globally approved capabilities offered by manufacturing units within the Cluster.”

Its presence at the BAC will play a vital role in supporting BIKAR’s operations by leveraging the advantageous environment to provide seamless services to its customers, meeting their diverse requirements with greater efficiency.

BIKAR AEROSPACE GmbH expects its new location be fully operational by the first quarter of 2024. This strategic move reinforces its commitment to expanding its presence in the aerospace sector and diversifying its global footprint, the company said.

The family-run German company has been supplying a growing number of customers in the aerospace industry. With its strong foundation and expertise in the sector, BIKAR has successfully positioned itself as a trusted partner throughout the entire aerospace supply chain.
