Independence Day Parade held at Western Naval Command

Mumbai. As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations marking 75 years of India’s Independence, a Ceremonial Parade was held at INS Shikra on August 15 at which Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, took the salute and inspected a 50-man Guard.

He later reviewed the platoons comprising naval personnel drawn from all ships, submarines and shore establishments. The parade was attended by all Flag Officers and Commanding Officers in Mumbai.

The Commander-in-Chief also paid homage to all personnel that made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation by placing a floral wreath at the Gaurav Stambh, the Victory at Sea Memorial at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

Addressing the parade, VAdm Singh congratulated all personnel on parade, their families and our countrymen on the momentous occasion of completing 75 years as an independent nation.

The Admiral recounted various important milestones of the country’s growth and development into a confident, Aatmanirbhar Bharat – India@75.

He also described the Indian Navy’s transformation into a modern force and its many contributions to the nation’s development. He expressed full confidence that India@100 would be even more vibrant, strong and self-assured, while the Indian Navy would leave no stone unturned to help the nation meet its aspirations.

Marking the 76th Independence Day, the ships in harbour were dressed overall in ceremonial flags and all the bases of Western Naval Command were decorated in hues of tri-colour.
