Boeing and Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority Collaborate to Advance Pilot Training through Competency-Based Training and Assessment

ivil Aviation Authority of Thailand becomes first regulator to adopt Boeing’s CBTA solution

BANGKOK, Thailand, September 1, 2026. Boeing and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) today announced a first-of-its kind collaboration to introduce Boeing’s Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) Learning Library solution across flight training organizations throughout Thailand.

The CAAT and Boeing commemorated the agreement at APATS in Bangkok – featuring Christine Bohl, Boeing and His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.

The initiative marks the first time a regulator has implemented the CBTA Learning Library across an entire ecosystem. This will support the development of the next generation of airline pilots by providing access to Boeing’s industry-leading CBTA learning content, designed to strengthen pilot competencies, improve training effectiveness, and better prepare cadets for modern airline operations.

The CAAT and Boeing commemorated the agreement at APATS in Bangkok – featuring Christine Bohl, Boeing and His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.

As demand for 66,000 new pilots over the next 20 years continues to grow across Southeast Asia, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing aviation safety, training quality, and workforce readiness. By aligning training with internationally recognized CBTA principles, Thai flight schools will be well positioned to develop pilots with the technical and behavioral competencies required for successful airline careers.

“Boeing is proud to work with CAAT to support Thailand’s aviation training ecosystem,” said Chris Broom, Vice President of Boeing Commercial Training Solutions. “Together, we are helping equip future pilots with the knowledge and competencies needed to safely and efficiently operate in today’s increasingly complex aviation environment.”

“This collaboration represents an important step in advancing pilot training standards in Thailand,” said Iratrachar Amornpipat, Personnel Licensing Department Manager, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). “By leveraging Boeing’s expertise and CBTA learning solutions, we can further strengthen the quality of pilot training and support the continued growth of Thailand’s aviation industry.”

The deployment of Boeing’s CBTA learning solution will be available to participating flight schools across Thailand, supporting a more standardized and competency-focused approach to pilot development.
