Suhora Technologies secures IN-SPACe Seed Fund Grant to advance Maritime Domain Awareness using Space Technology

New Delhi. Suhora Technologies, a leading India-based space data analytics company announced on March 3 that it has been selected for the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Grant-in-Aid under the ‘Announcement of Opportunity for the Marine Sector using Space Technology’.

The announcement of opportunity in Marine Sector using Space Technologies under the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Scheme was made on July 16, 2024, to harness and drive a new era of growth of blue economy using the power of space technology. IN-SPACe received a total of 45 proposals which were meticulously scrutinized by expert committee consisting of space luminaries. The aim of the scheme is to promote solutions for improvement in ocean monitoring and mapping, enhancing maritime surveillance, and supporting disaster response efforts in coastal communities.

Suhora Technologies is revolutionizing Earth Observation (EO) and geospatial analytics by integrating cutting-edge satellite imagery with advanced data analytics. The company delivers Satellite-as-a-Service solutions, integrating multiple streams of technologies across both space and terrestrial domains. Suhora’s platform enhances Maritime Domain Awareness through its SaaS-based Tasking, Exploitation, and Dissemination system, etc., enabling seamless multi-sensor integration, automated analytics, and near real-time insights. These capabilities are essential for ocean monitoring and mapping, enhancing maritime security, improving situational awareness and supporting disaster response efforts in coastal communities.

Powered by a cutting-edge AI pipeline, Suhora’s solutions are able to optimize satellite orbit dynamics for enhanced imaging capacity while providing smart tip-and-cue tasking for precision monitoring. The automated AI alerting engine from the company detects dark ships, AIS anomalies, and illegal maritime activities, ensuring near real-time situational awareness. With unmatched detection and classification capabilities, their system delivers speed, reliability, and scalability for mission-critical intelligence.

Speaking on this achievement, Amit Kumar, COO& Co-Founder, Suhora Technologies said, “We are honored to be recognized by IN-SPACe for this crucial seed fund grant. Space technology has immense potential to transform maritime operations and with this funding, we aim to develop solutions that will contribute to a secure, sustainable, and prosperous blue economy. This will enable us to accelerate our R&D capabilities and expand the deployment of our maritime intelligence solutions”

The announcement by IN-SPACe comes at a time when downstream applications in space technology are taking precedence in multiple sectors and the government and defence sector is also adopting these applications to enhance efficiencies in various domains. According to the ISpA-nasscom-Deloitte report, the market for downstream spacetech segment is expected to reach ~USD 610 billion by 2031. Maritime Domain Awareness is one of the key strategic use cases for the Defence-Space industry under the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) domain.

In its endeavor to develop the private space ecosystem and promote space technology in the country, IN-SPACe announced the Seed Fund Scheme in December 2023. The scheme is designed to support space start-ups and micro & small industries (MSEs), those aim to develop innovative space products and services that can improve the quality of life of people and communities in India and around the world. The sector-wise announcement of opportunity is being carried out at regular intervals.
