India, Finland deepen strategic tech partnership at India AI Impact Summit 2026
New Delhi, February 18. The growing strategic partnership between Finland and India in advanced technologies took centre stage at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 during a session titled ‘Building Sovereign Deep Tech for a Resilient Future’.
The discussion spotlighted expanding collaboration across artificial intelligence, space, quantum computing and next-generation digital networks. Speakers noted that Finland’s strengths in research, engineering excellence and high-performance computing complement India’s scale, talent base and application-driven innovation ecosystem, creating strong opportunities for co-development and global deployment of deep-tech solutions.
The session underscored the importance of public-private partnerships, shared research infrastructure and open innovation frameworks in accelerating scientific breakthroughs and converting them into commercial and societal benefits. Technological sovereignty was also linked to sustainable development, with emphasis on circular economy practices, climate action, advanced connectivity and hybrid computing as key pillars of long-term resilience.
Addressing the gathering, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stressed the growing need to ensure access to supercomputing capacity for academia and industry as demand for computing power rises. He highlighted Finland’s long-standing model of public-private cooperation in innovation and said a holistic understanding of value chains and societal impact is essential for building a sustainable technological future. He expressed confidence that Finland and India, working with international partners, can lead global efforts in resilience, sustainability and human-centric innovation.
Timo Harakka, Member of the Finnish Parliament, said resilient technology must be rooted in human-centric innovation, strong skills and responsible governance. He emphasised that technological sovereignty is not about isolation, but trusted collaboration built on open standards, secure infrastructure and international cooperation.
The session also featured participation from representatives of the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, Reorbit, Infosys, Nokia and CSC IT Centre for Science, reflecting a shared commitment to open, secure and trusted technological ecosystems.
