Chandrayan-3 is a giant step towards the future

By Umang kohli

New Delhi, August 23. Sometimes one small step by a man in the long run turns out to be a giant leap for mankind. Chandrayaan-3, is promising to be a giant leap for mankind for on its success, it will unleash many opportunities and possibilities. India is hopeful for a soft landing of Vikram which would make it the first country to soft land on the South Pole of moon.

Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Director General of Indian Space Association (ISpA), in his conversation with India Strategic, emphasised that the success of Chandrayan 3 would usher in a new era of development. “Contribution of the private sectors in this ‘Lunar Economy’ is going to increase in the years to come”, he said, also highlighting the prospect of bringing more start-ups and private players into the arena in the backdrop of the lunar economy that will gain prominence in the wider ambit of the global economy.

ISpA is a non-profit industry body fostering collaborative development in India’s Private Space Industry, acting as a bridge between the Government and Private Sector. Through policy advocacy and engagement with stakeholders, ISpA aims to accelerate knowledge sharing and make India a leading player in the global space arena.

It empowers members, academia, entrepreneurs, and start-ups to strengthen both private and public sectors in the Indian Space industry.

There is a pressing need to advance public-private partnerships to propel the Indian space sector to greater heights. This may be expanded by public-private cooperation in fields of R&D, space exploration, infrastructure, remote-sensing and development of new technology, Lt Gen Bhatt observed.

Experts say that commercialisation of the space sector would also bring in investments and help in dissemination of space technologies. More such interventions like IN-SPACe must be welcomed to encourage Public Private Partnership (PPP) in this sphere.
