President Droupadi Murmu visits ARTRAC Headquarters in Shimla, reviews Indian Army training initiatives
Shimla, May 1. The President of India and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, visited the Headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on May 1, where she reviewed key training initiatives and operational preparedness measures of the Indian Army.
She was received on arrival by Kavinder Gupta, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, and Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, during the visit, the President was briefed on the evolution and expanding role of ARTRAC in shaping the training architecture of the Indian Army. Lt Gen Sharma highlighted the Command’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency through modernised training practices and the adoption of emerging technologies.
The briefing underscored several forward-looking initiatives, including specialised drone training, the integration of niche technologies, the introduction of the ‘Red Teaming’ concept for realistic war-gaming, and ongoing digitisation and automation efforts across the force.
President Murmu noted ARTRAC’s comprehensive mandate in designing warfare concepts, developing human resources, and fostering engagements with friendly foreign countries and sister services. She observed that through its 32 premier training establishments, ARTRAC plays a crucial role in strengthening professionalism within the Army and contributes significantly to the broader goals of military excellence, self-reliance, and a developed India.
The President also held discussions with Lieutenant General Sharma in the presence of the Governor on the importance of robust training systems in ensuring national security and military readiness.
Commending the officers, personnel, and defence civilians of ARTRAC for their contributions, President Murmu urged them to continue working with dedication to further enhance the operational preparedness of the Indian Army.
