CRPF’s Divyang centre to become para-sports hub with Boeing partnership
Secunderabad, Sep 17. The National Divyang Empowerment Centre (NCDE) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Jawahar Nagar is set to develop into a dedicated hub for para-sports, with Boeing India partnering with the force to strengthen training, sports infrastructure and support for its differently abled personnel.
Established in 2020 to support CRPF personnel with disabilities, the NCDE currently trains athletes in disciplines such as archery and shooting. Its sportspersons have performed strongly at state, national and international competitions, winning medals across various events.
Under the partnership, Boeing India will provide sporting equipment, sports medicine facilities, professional coaches, nutritionists and other support services to help CRPF’s Divyang athletes compete at international levels, including in Paralympic sports. The initiative will be implemented through Boeing’s CSR partner, Sahyog Care For You.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening the para-sports ecosystem at the NCDE, including infrastructure and athlete support, while promoting greater inclusion and creating opportunities for differently abled personnel to compete at the highest levels.
CRPF Director General GP Singh thanked Boeing India and South Asia President Salil Gupte for extending the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative to the NCDE. He also appreciated Boeing’s efforts in education, skill development and strengthening sports infrastructure for Divyang personnel.
Singh expressed confidence that the partnership would help Indian para-sportspersons gain greater recognition at international competitions. He also highlighted the strong performances of the NCDE’s athletes and said the CRPF would make every effort to improve the quality of life and opportunities available to its differently abled personnel.
The CRPF is also providing modern prosthetic devices to Divyang personnel to improve their mobility, alongside enhanced training facilities. According to the force, these initiatives are intended both to promote sports and to support the broader welfare and rehabilitation of its personnel.
Singh said the NCDE was envisaged as a future Centre of Excellence for para-sports for personnel from the Central armed police forces as well as state police organisations. A comprehensive policy to introduce additional training modules at the centre is also in the final stages of approval.
The DG said the centre’s role would extend beyond rehabilitation, with the objective of enabling Divyang personnel to make a wider and more productive contribution to national service through sports and other activities.
Boeing India and South Asia President Salil Gupte said the company was committed to supporting those serving the nation and strengthening the resilience of armed forces personnel and their families.
Under the initiative, he said, Boeing would provide equipment, infrastructure and professional coaching to support the competitive performance and physical recovery of differently abled CRPF personnel and help them participate in Paralympic sports.
Sahyog Care For You, the implementation partner, has worked with the NCDE to develop a support mechanism covering athlete guidance, infrastructure enhancement and sports training. The organisation has also sought to identify and nurture the sporting abilities of trained personnel and help them develop competitive skills.
Praveena Yagnambhat, Chief of Staff, Government Engagement and CSR Head, Boeing India and South Asia, made several visits to the NCDE to assess its requirements before resources were mobilised for the programme.
The CRPF said the partnership is expected to strengthen the centre’s sporting ecosystem and help its athletes improve their performances at national and international competitions.
