Pratt & Whitney Announces Over 400 PT6 E-Series™ Engine Family Deliveries, Surpassing 100,000 Flying Hours

Oshkosh, Wis. Pratt & Whitney Canada, a business unit of Pratt & Whitney, announced on July 24 that it has delivered over 400 PT6 E-Series™ engines, with the fleet now having flown more than 100,000 hours worldwide. Building on the legacy of the iconic PT6 engine family, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the PT6 E-Series has raised the bar on engine performance, control systems, data intelligence and service solutions. The PT6E-67XP powers the Pilatus PC-12 NGX and the PT6E-66XT powers Daher’s TBM 960 – both are single-engine turboprops.

The PT6 E-Series is the first engine family in the general aviation turboprop market with a dual-channel integrated electronic propeller and engine control system.

“The PT6 E-Series embodies our commitment to propelling innovation and enhancing our technology to deliver greater value to our customers and support their continued success,” said Nicholas Kanellias, Vice President, General Aviation, Pratt & Whitney Canada. “With its optimal combination of precision, performance and efficiency, it offers an elevated flying experience and sets a new standard for general aviation, supported by comprehensive engine maintenance coverage through our premium maintenance plans.”

The PT6 E-Series is the first engine family in the general aviation turboprop market with a dual-channel integrated electronic propeller and engine control system. The digital capabilities of the PT6 E-Series enable single-power lever engine control, leading to a more intuitive pilot experience.

The control system helps to optimize power and efficiency in all phases of flight by constantly reviewing all engine parameters – as well as many aircraft parameters – and making the necessary adjustments to the fuel flow and propeller blade angle. The data is used to deliver constant engine performance at all altitudes and temperatures. The PT6 E-Series also delivers performance gains such as increased engine take-off, climb, and thermodynamic power.

Operators of PC-12 NGX aircraft can ensure full peace of mind and maximum availability through platinum-level coverage on P&WC’s Eagle Service™ Plan. This pay-per-hour program is a comprehensive solution that includes scheduled engine maintenance, foreign object damage and environmental damage repair, predictive and pro-active support, and much more. Those flying the TBM 960 aircraft benefit from the all-new P&WC Service Guarantee Program, offering operators the benefit of proactive support throughout their new engine ownership period.

Since its founding in 1928, Pratt & Whitney Canada engines have flown 1 billion hours.  Half of those hours – 500 million– are on the PT6 family.
