EgyptAir marks 94 years with New Delhi gala, reaffirms focus on India market and cultural ties

New Delhi, May 17. Egypt’s national carrier EgyptAir celebrated its 94th anniversary with a gala evening in New Delhi, bringing together more than 200 guests from the travel trade, aviation sector, corporate community, and diplomatic corps. The event underscored the airline’s expanding engagement with the Indian market and highlighted the growing cultural and tourism links between India and Egypt.

The evening was hosted by Amr Aly, Country Manager of EgyptAir, who described India as one of the airline’s most strategically important destinations. He noted that the celebration was not only a milestone for the airline but also a reflection of the strengthening relationship between the two countries.

Egypt’s Ambassador to India, Kamel Galal, attended the event and spoke about the steady deepening of bilateral cooperation in tourism, trade, culture, and connectivity. The presence of members of the diplomatic community further emphasised Egypt’s prioritisation of India as a key market.

In his address, Aly said EgyptAir’s 94-year legacy is closely intertwined with its partnerships in India, crediting travel trade associates, industry stakeholders, and passengers for the airline’s growth in the country. He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and promoting tourism and cultural exchange as it approaches its 95th anniversary next year.

During the evening, EgyptAir also announced an upcoming collaboration with UNESCO aimed at fostering cultural exchange and supporting initiatives related to heritage preservation, biodiversity, and traditional practices. Further details of the initiative are expected in the coming months.

The airline took the occasion to honour its leading travel trade partners and industry associates for their contribution to EgyptAir’s success in India.

The anniversary celebrations come at a time when EgyptAir is pursuing an ambitious fleet and network expansion plan. The airline recently inducted new Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and unveiled plans to add new long-haul destinations such as Chicago and Los Angeles, along with expanded European connectivity including Venice. These steps form part of EgyptAir’s broader growth vision leading up to 2030.

With direct flights connecting Delhi and Mumbai to Cairo, EgyptAir continues to play a key role in facilitating tourism, business travel, and people-to-people exchanges between India, Egypt, Africa, Europe, and other regions.
