First Army Commanders’ Conference of 2023 begins, focus on China

New Delhi. The first Army Commanders’ Conference (ACC) of 2023 began on April 17 during which former Indian envoy to China Vijay Gokhale will deliver an address on the future contours of India-China relations.

The ACC will conclude on Apil 21 and for the first time is being conducted in hybrid format.

The Army Commanders and senior officers are attending the meeting virtually on the first day. Physical meetings on matters which require detailed deliberations will be held in Delhi.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the conference on April 19. He will also review an equipment display focusing on the use of technology in the army, artificial intelligence, training, robotics, innovation, solutions for surveillance, virtual reality and operational logistics. The progress of the Agniveer scheme, work related to combat engineers, digitisation aspects in the Army and budget management will also be reviewed.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff and Chief of the Air Staff will also attend the conference

On the first day of the conference, agenda points sponsored by various Command Headquarters will be discussed virtually, followed by an update from the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command and sessions by the Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters.
