Homage Paid to the Heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War on Vijay Diwas
Mumbai. On the occasion of 53rd anniversary of Vijay Diwas, a solemn wreath laying ceremony was conducted at the Shaheed Smarak at Colaba Military station on December 16 in Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by senior officers and veterans of all three services.
To commemorate the glorious victory of India in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, homage was paid to the fallen warriors. Wreaths were laid by Vice Adm Sanjay J Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command, Lt Gen Pawan Chadha, General Officer Commanding Maharashtra Gujarat and Goa Area, Group Captain Shreyas Mahajan from HQ Maritime Air Operations, Officers from the tri-services and Veterans at Shaheed Smarak, Colaba.
The Nation celebrates Vijay Diwas on 16th December every year to commemorate the historic victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war. On this momentous day, the world witnessed the unconditional surrender of regular Pakistani troops to the tri-service theatre Commanders of the Indian Armed Forces in Dhaka, resulting in the liberation of Bangladesh.
