IAF’s Sarang team to showcase aerial prowess at Egypt’s El Alamein International Airshow
New Delhi, Sep 6. The Indian Air Force’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team has arrived in Egypt to participate in the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, being held from September 8 to 10, 2026, at El Alamein International Airport.
The participation of the Sarang team is expected to add a distinctive Indian dimension to the international airshow while highlighting the growing defence and diplomatic engagement between India and Egypt. The event brings together leading air forces as well as professionals from the aerospace, defence and space sectors from across the world.
Flying the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, the Sarang team is known for its demanding formation manoeuvres, close-proximity flying and synchronised aerial sequences. The team will demonstrate its precision, discipline and flying skills through a series of carefully choreographed displays.
The Sarang Helicopter Display Team is the world’s only five-helicopter aerobatic display team. Its performances are designed to showcase both the capabilities of the ALH Dhruv and the high level of training and coordination of its pilots.
Among the highlights of the team’s performance in Egypt will be its signature ‘Dolphin Leap’ manoeuvre. It will also unveil a new aerial manoeuvre, the ‘Spot Stall Turn’, during the airshow.
The displays are expected to provide aviation enthusiasts and spectators from around the world an opportunity to witness the agility and versatility of the Dhruv helicopter, while also showcasing India’s growing indigenous aerospace capabilities.
The team’s participation comes as India and Egypt continue to expand defence cooperation, including through military exchanges and greater engagement between their armed forces. The presence of the Sarang team at a major international aviation event in Egypt also provides an opportunity for interaction with other participating air forces and international display teams.
Beyond its aerial spectacle, the Sarang team’s appearance in Egyptian skies is therefore significant as an example of India’s expanding defence diplomacy and its effort to showcase indigenous defence and aerospace capabilities on international platforms.
