India, Singapore review Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at Foreign Office Consultations

New Delhi, August 6. India and Singapore on August 6 reviewed the progress of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the 19th round of Foreign Office Consultations held in New Delhi, with discussions focusing on expanding cooperation across key sectors and enhancing coordination on regional and global issues.

The Indian delegation was led by Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Rudrendra Tandon, while the Singapore side was headed by Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary (Policy) at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides assessed the implementation of cooperation under the eight priority areas identified in the Roadmap for the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The roadmap will guide discussions under the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).

Officials reviewed collaboration in economic cooperation, skills development, digitalisation, sustainability, connectivity, healthcare and medicine, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and defence and security cooperation.

The consultations also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments, with both countries reaffirming the importance of close coordination in multilateral and regional forums, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), to address common challenges.

India and Singapore elevated their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024. The roadmap for implementing the partnership was launched during Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s visit to India in September 2025.

During his visit, Luke Goh also called on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and held separate meetings with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Rajiv Mani, Secretary in the Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice.
