Indian Eastern Fleet ships arrive in Thailand to deepen maritime cooperation
New Delhi, June 27. Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri, Kavaratti and Shakti of the Eastern Fleet arrived at Sattahip, Thailand, during their operational deployment to the South East Asia region, underscoring India’s growing maritime engagement with regional partners.
The ships, led by Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, were welcomed by the Royal Thai Navy upon their arrival. The port call reflects the close and longstanding maritime partnership between India and Thailand and forms part of New Delhi’s continued efforts to strengthen ties with Southeast Asian nations.
During the visit, the two navies will participate in a series of professional exchanges, cross-deck visits, operational interactions, sporting events and community outreach activities aimed at enhancing interoperability and deepening navy-to-navy cooperation.
The deployment is expected to further strengthen camaraderie, mutual understanding and bilateral maritime ties between the two countries. The visit also provides an opportunity for India to showcase the indigenous design, modular construction and advanced technologies incorporated in its naval platforms, underlining the country’s expanding capabilities in defence manufacturing and its credentials as a reliable partner in defence technology cooperation.
