New Delhi, March 8. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region has announced new office bearers for 2025-26 at its Annual Regional Meeting held in New Delhi. Mr. Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, Sona Comstar, has been elected as Chairman, while Mr. Puneet Kaura, Managing Director & CEO, Samtel Avionics, will serve as the Deputy Chairman. Together, they will steer CII Northern Region across seven states—Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and three Union Territories—Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh—focusing on growth, innovation, and industry competitiveness.

Sunjay Kapur – Chairman, Sona Comstar.

As Chairman of Sona Comstar, Mr. Kapur leads one of the world’s foremost mobility technology companies. Established in 1995 and headquartered in Gurugram, India, Sona Comstar is a global leader in highly engineered automotive components with manufacturing and R&D operations spanning India, the USA, Serbia, Mexico, and China. The company is also a key supplier to the fast-growing Electric Vehicle (EV) sector.

With over two decades of industry experience, Mr. Kapur is an influential figure in shaping India’s automotive and manufacturing policies. He has held leadership positions in several CII committees, including as Chair of the CII Europe Committee (2023-24), driving trade and business collaborations between India and Europe. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of CII-Triveni Water Institute, contributing to sustainability and water conservation initiatives.

“Our strategic roadmap for 2025-26 focuses on six key priority areas to drive industrial growth and policy reforms — Policy Advocacy, Growth & Inclusiveness, Strengthening MSMEs, Membership Engagement, Skill Development, and Innovation & Sustainability. A key imperative is to fortify the connection between MSMEs, startups, and academia, creating a synergy that amplifies the region’s inherent strengths and unlocks new opportunities for economic growth,” said Mr. Kapur, Chairman, CII Northern Region.

Puneet Kaura – MD & CEO, Samtel Avionics.

Mr. Puneet Kaura, the newly appointed Deputy Chairman of CII Northern Region, is the Managing Director & CEO of Samtel Avionics, a leading Indian company specializing in avionics, rugged displays, and defense electronics for both domestic and international markets. Under his leadership, Samtel Avionics has played a key role in India’s defense and aerospace industry, contributing to cutting-edge technology solutions for fighter jets, helicopters, and land-based systems. The company has forged global partnerships with major defense OEMs and government agencies, positioning India as a key player in the aerospace sector.

Mr. Kaura has been actively involved in CII leadership roles, having served as the Chairman of CII Delhi. His deep understanding of industrial growth strategies, government policies, and technology-driven manufacturing makes him a valuable addition to the CII Northern Region leadership team.

With Mr. Sunjay Kapur and Mr. Puneet Kaura at the helm, CII Northern Region is set to drive innovation, strengthen global partnerships, and champion policies that accelerate industrial and economic growth.
