INS Ikshak arrives in Seychelles for National Day celebrations and maritime engagement
New Delhi, June 27. Indian Navy survey vessel INS Ikshak arrived at Port Victoria in Seychelles on June 26 as part of its operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, reinforcing India’s commitment to maritime cooperation with island nations in the region.
The visit coincides with Seychelles’ 50th National Day celebrations, highlighting the longstanding friendship and strong maritime partnership between India and Seychelles.
During the port call, the indigenously built Survey Vessel Large (SVL) will participate in the National Day events and engage with the Seychelles Defence Forces through a series of professional exchanges aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation and interoperability.
The ship is also scheduled to undertake community outreach activities, including medical camps and the distribution of essential supplies, as part of efforts to strengthen goodwill and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
As part of the visit, INS Ikshak will be opened to visitors, offering the local community an opportunity to witness the Indian Navy’s capabilities and its role in promoting maritime security, safety and cooperation across the region.
The deployment of INS Ikshak underscores India’s continued focus on strengthening maritime partnerships with friendly nations and advancing peace, security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region in line with its MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision.
