INS Sagardhwani’s Port Klang visit boosts India–Malaysia maritime and scientific cooperation
Port Klang, May 13. The Indian Navy’s oceanographic research vessel INS Sagardhwani arrived at Port Klang on May 13 as part of its South East Asia deployment, receiving a warm welcome from personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence on May 15, over the two-day port call, sailors and officers from the Indian Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy are scheduled to take part in a series of professional engagements, including training exchanges, cross-deck visits, and Subject Matter Expert Exchanges. These interactions are designed to deepen maritime cooperation, expand scientific collaboration, and improve interoperability and mutual understanding between the two services.
The visit also marks INS Sagardhwani’s return to Port Klang after a previous scientific mission in 2019. The stopover underscores the steady expansion of maritime ties between India and Malaysia and reflects both countries’ shared commitment to strengthening regional maritime security and cooperative engagement at sea.
