INS Sahyadri, Kulish conclude ADMM-Plus maritime security exercise in Philippines
New Delhi, Sep 27. Indian Navy ships INS Sahyadri and INS Kulish have concluded their participation in the 23rd ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts’ Working Group on Maritime Security Joint Cooperation Activity (EWG-MS JCA) at Subic Bay in the Philippines.
The closing ceremony was held on September 25, bringing to an end the multilateral maritime security activity that began on September 21 at Naval Operating Base Subic. The event was hosted by the Philippine Navy and co-chaired by Japan.
During the harbour phase, participating personnel took part in subject matter expert exchanges on peace and security, the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting and Guidelines for Maritime Interaction (ANCM-GMI), senior enlisted leadership and marine environmental protection.
The programme also included sporting events, an International Day and a cultural show, providing opportunities for professional and cultural interaction among participating forces.
On September 22, Indian Navy personnel participated in an operational synchronisation exercise and a tabletop exercise, followed by a pre-sail conference to coordinate activities for the sea phase.
A community engagement programme was also conducted at the Shepherds of the Hill Centre in Zambales as part of the activity.
The sea phase featured a series of coordinated maritime drills, including search and rescue, hydrographic survey, casualty and medical evacuation, deck landing qualification and assistance to vessels aground.
The activities provided participating navies an opportunity to practise coordinated responses at sea and enhance operational interoperability and maritime cooperation.
The successful conduct of the EWG-MS JCA underscored the importance of professional interaction and practical multilateral engagement in strengthening cooperation in the maritime domain.
The Indian Navy’s participation also reaffirmed India’s commitment to regional maritime partnerships under its Act East Policy and the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision.
