New Delhi, June 17. Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Tarkash departed Port Victoria, Seychelles, on June 15 after completing a port call marked by professional exchanges, humanitarian outreach and diplomatic engagements aimed at further strengthening the longstanding maritime partnership between India and Seychelles.
During its stay, the warship hosted a series of activities highlighting the close ties between the two countries. INS Tarkash was opened to visitors on June 13, attracting enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora and the local community. Visitors interacted with the crew and gained insights into the Indian Navy’s capabilities and operational role.
As part of its community outreach efforts, the ship’s medical team organised a humanitarian programme for elderly residents, offering first aid and basic medical consultations while also distributing essential medicines and food supplies.
The visit also featured a cultural evening onboard the frigate, attended by Seychelles Vice President Alix Sebastien Pillay, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Indian High Commission and other distinguished guests.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the port call reaffirmed the close and enduring friendship between India and Seychelles and underscored New Delhi’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation and regional security in the Indian Ocean Region.
The ministry said the visit was in line with India’s MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision aimed at promoting collaborative security and sustainable growth across the maritime domain.
Following the completion of the visit, INS Tarkash sailed from Port Victoria on June 15 for further deployment.
