Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar visits India; talks focus on strategic partnership and Gaza peace plan
New Delhi, November 4. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar concluded a two-day visit to India, his first since assuming office, aimed at further strengthening the India–Israel Strategic Partnership.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held comprehensive talks with Sa’ar in New Delhi on Tuesday, covering a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. The two ministers reviewed progress in cooperation across key sectors including political and security ties, defence, agriculture, trade and investment, people-to-people exchanges, as well as emerging areas such as semiconductors, cyber security, Artificial Intelligence, and critical technologies.
Reiterating their firm stance against terrorism, both sides called for a global approach of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Sa’ar also shared Israel’s perspectives on developments in West Asia and the Gulf region. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s support for the Gaza peace plan, welcomed the return of hostages, and expressed hope that the initiative would help achieve a lasting and durable peace in the region.
The ministers further discussed global developments and agreed to deepen collaboration in multilateral forums. On the sidelines of the meeting, they witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on training between India’s Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his visit, the Israeli Foreign Minister also met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and paid homage at the Haifa Chowk Memorial, which commemorates the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1918 Battle of Haifa.
