Bengaluru, July 9. The State Meet 2025 for Uttarakhand on Leveraging Space Technology for Viksit Bharat 2047 – Insights from the Himalayan State was successfully organised on 30 June 2025 by Regional Remote Sensing Centre-North, NRSC in collaboration with Govt of Uttarakhand at Chief Minister Camp Office, Mukhya Sewa Sadan, Dehradun. The event was conducted as part of a series of consultations leading up to the National Meet scheduled in August 2025 in New Delhi. As envisaged under the National Meet initiative, these State-level meets aim to compile state-specific perspectives and operational requirements to guide the formulation of a comprehensive national roadmap for space applications and infrastructure development.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami graced the occasion as Chief Guest and emphasised that space technology is no longer confined to scientific research but has become vital for agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, health, and infrastructure development. He called the event a milestone in realising the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and congratulated ISRO and scientists on the historic achievement of Indian astronaut hoisting the national flag at the International Space Station. He shared that Uttarakhand is committed to promoting science and innovation, with the goal of integrating scientific tools into governance and service delivery.

The Guest of Honour for the event, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman ISRO and Secretary, Department of Space, delivered the special address, reflecting on India’s inspiring journey from transporting rockets on bicycles to achieving landmark missions such as Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Aditya-L1. He shared India’s vision to establish an independent space station and send astronauts to the Moon by 2040, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to technological excellence.

Chief Secretary of Govt of Uttarakhand, Mr. Anand Bardhan stated that Uttarakhand is focused on adopting space technology and creating permanent scientific infrastructure.

Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, NRSC, highlighted that satellite data has become indispensable in Uttarakhand, especially for glacier lake monitoring, forest fire mapping, cloudburst prediction, and disaster response during the Rishiganga-Chamoli incident. He emphasised that Earth observation, communication, and navigation are transforming governance and called for deeper partnerships to mainstream geospatial solutions.

The Chief Minister released the document on the “Future Requirements of Space Technology Applications and Space Infrastructure in Uttarakhand”, prepared by team of ISRO and USAC officials with inputs from 27 line departments of Uttarakhand.

Secretaries of the Government of Uttarakhand made thematic presentations on eight key sectors. Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, R.
